Public Sector Investment Programme
Public Sector Investment Programme
Overview
The Public Sector Investment Programme is the instrument used by the Government of Belize to translate national development goals, objectives, and priorities into tangible investments. It captures projects financed and executed by or on behalf of the Government of Belize towards the fulfilment of national development objectives and comprises investments in economic and social infrastructure; economic services supporting the productive and business sectors; the environment and natural resource management, including climate resilience and disaster risk reduction; and public administration.
More specifically, these include:
- New construction and rehabilitation of roads, streets, drains, and bridges
- Upgrade and expansion of electricity and water and sanitation infrastructure
- Establishment and enhancement of schools, hospitals, and recreational facilities
- Institutional strengthening and capacity-building across government to facilitate both the public and the productive sector; and
- Initiatives to protect the environment and promote disaster and climate resilience across the Belizean economy
The Policy and Planning Unit collaborates with ministries and development partners in identifying and developing projects included in the PSIP, and with executing entities to produce quarterly reports on the Programme. These reports provide basic information and a snapshot of the technical and financial execution of projects captured in the Programme.
