The Caribbean region is identified as “ground zero for the global climate emergency,” with small island developing states (SIDS) facing disproportionate impacts despite contributing less than 1% to global greenhouse gas emissions.
CABRIC represents a strategic USD 30 million response to these interconnected challenges, led by the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) from the Green Climate Fund until 2028. The initiative focuses on ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) in coastal areas
with priorities in food and water security, ecosystem health, disaster risk reduction, and public health, recognizing that climate solutions must be also grounded in the knowledge, governance systems, and self-determined priorities of the communities most affected by climate impacts.
